Thing 1: The Boxwood Wreath
Well, my broads, it's here. The season. Let the hall decking commence! I myself have been delayed this time around. Three out-of-town weekends in a row will do that to you...
I've decided that instead of sharing one long post about ways I've let the holiday spirit into my life this time around, I'll share several short posts about the little things that really make my heart smile this time of year. For today's installment, I bring you the Boxwood Wreath.
The Boxwood wreath is kind of like the perfect man (or woman). It's simple, not flashy. It's classy. It's not overbearing and won't steal the spotlight. It's familiar. It's not too delicate. It probably will stay with you for as long as you'd like. You feel better when it's around and miss it when it's gone. And it looks just as good dressed up as it does naked. There is only one very important trait that it possesses which sets it apart from something we seek in our mates. But it's such a good one...
I am talking $9.99 at Trader Joe's. Yes, for $10 and some tax, you too can welcome this adornment into your home for the winter. I'm indulgent and bought three because, ever since I moved into our bungalow I have dreamed of three wreaths hung in our big front window.
I had the pleasure of dressing those windows up a few nights ago. It took all but 20 minutes and afterwards I just sat and looked at them a while. 20 minutes and $10. You can thank me later.
